100 days to go!

Hi everyone

Hilary here:

hil_a.jpg

There is just 100 days to go until our musical ride at HOYS!

We can hardly wait – we were measured for our costumes this week and saw what they would finally look like. Personally, I prefer the boys’ costumes over the girls’, but I would say that – I play a boy!

The music has been finalized and we are now working hard learning the cues. It is important for us to remember these so that we can slow down if we are going too fast or vice versa. I think you will love the music – I do! We all can’t help but sing along all the time. We will have to try very hard not to when we are performing – although you will probably be singing along too.

There is only one more practice before the summer holidays and we are trying to make sure that it is perfect before we take a break. There is a lot to look forward to in the holidays – the Area qualifiers for dressage, show jumping and eventing. Pony Club Camp (yippee) and NO SCHOOL!

I also have to tell you about some other amazing news – our branch has been asked to perform at the Royal Show in celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the Pony Club.

Not our musical ride, but a sort of parade. We will be appearing three times during the day on July 9. There are about 40 of us doing the ride and it covers all the disciplines of the Pony Club. If you are at the Show come and see us.

Bye for now, keep riding
Hilary

Feeling hot, hot!

Hiya

Laura here: newlaura.jpg

Phew! I don’t know about you, but I luv this hot weather! I've had a little trip away from H+P Towers to sunny Bournemouth and it was gorgeous. Sooo hot and warm, it was lovely.

It didn’t take me long to find some cute ponies to look at either. We took a trip out into the New Forest to spy on some of the ponies. As we went around the very first corner there they were! We ended up doing a bit of off-road driving to get round them as the ponies were resting in the shade and weren’t going to move car or no car!

Further along there were more ponies munching on a golf course and also spoiling a game of cricket by pooing on the pitch. (I wouldn’t have wanted to be the fielder going after the ball which lands in a pony poo pile!) Naughty ponies!

So if any of you are on your jolly holidays in the direction of the south coast, I recommend you and your rents take a drive to the woods. BUT be careful and drive slow, there are often accidents involving the ponies on the roads in the area so be very cautious!

Anyways back to work!

On the beach!

Hi from Hannah and Maisy!

Maisy stopped at home so I shared Jamie's pony.

At the end of May, 30 people from my PC travelled to Wells-Next-The-Sea to camp and ride on the beach! It took a long time to get there but it was worth it. Kizzee and Crystal were glad to stretch their legs. I left Maisy behind this year and shared Jamie's pony instead.

A few hours after arriving we went for our first beach ride. We rode through the fields to meet Mum in the car park, but she didn’t look very happy when we met her. Her car had broken down and she was waiting for the AA! We went onto the beach with some of our friends whilst Mum waited. Our ponies love the sea and the river. Kizzee went chest deep into the sea, tripped and Gemma fell right off and was soaked right through! By the time we had finished the AA had fixed Mum's car.

We had two more days of galloping along the beach, jumping little ditches and waves (which I loved). The sun was even out!

Bryony and Jamie chill out!

We had Fish and Chips with other families one night. On the last night the whole camp had a BBQ. We played lots of games and went to bed very late!

Mum ran the Tack Cleaning Badge so we all had to clean our tack and show her every day. She was mean and made some of us do bits again if we cheated - but we all passed in the end.

This was my third time going on the beach holiday and I hope Mum will take us again next year.

Wow! What's happened to Tippy?

Hi guys

Sarah and Tippy here:

I rode the old girl last weekend and she was sooo well behaved. It was like riding a top dressage horse!

Tawney decided we should stop at home and do some schooling rather than hack out. I was a bit - 'oh boring!' - but thought I ought to make an effort and surprise, surprise, Tippy was brill.

She felt really balanced and even cantered on the correct leg every time (not easy when you've got arthritis in your hocks)! All I can say is: "Thank you Hollie and Tawney - you've obviously been riding her carefully to get her going so well." I was able to spend time concentrating on my position and using my seat properly and keeping my shoulders back and down. Cool!
