Trying to find an old friend

Hey guys,

Laura and Thomas here: newlaura.jpg

Can you help this lady she is trying to track down her old pony Parvadean Tiger, she’s sent some details about him in, if you know anything email me at laura@horseandpony.com

"My name is Beverley Burford and I am trying to fine my old pony. I had him in 1983 and he goes by the name Parvadean Tiger. He's registered in the Welsh Section A stud book and he's a gelding.

Do you know this pony?

"I sold him to a lady called Zoe Taylor, from Alvechurch, nr Birmingham, who we have spoken to recently. She then sold him on but can't remember who to. She had him in 1988. He is very pale dapple grey with three white socks, and a white teardrop on his left shoulder (when looking at him). He would be about 23yrs old now - it’s a long shot, I know but if you know anything please help me find him!"

Howdy partners!

I have found my riding niche! Western riding is sooo cool. I went for a lesson last week at CW Western Training centre in Surrey. I LOVED it.

Not wanting to give too much away (as you’ll get to see the awesome pics in a future issue of the mag) but it was actually pretty easy compared to regular riding. Western is all about giving your pony the opportunity to think for themselves first, before you use your aids to tell them what to do.

You can imagine my surprise when I said ‘walk on’ and my pony actually did it. I could have been there for hours with the likes of Breeze or Desmond.

I was a natural (I think!). I had a go at barrel racing, trail exercises and everything! It was wicked. I rode a pony called Picasso who was a very lovely Appaloosa X Arab.
I want to find a school which teaches Western a bit closer… as Surrey is a bit of trek for a weekly lesson. Any suggestions? x

Just me this week!

Hey everyone,

Sarah (and Tippy) here: _MG_0429.JPG

It's just me blogging this week - soz! Jennie's poorly and Laura's at Your Horse Live. So if you're going to YHL pop round to say 'hi' to her. She'd love to meet you all, especially as it's going to be FREEZING this weekend.

Anyway the latest news on Tippy's yard is that a new horse or pony is coming. I don't know more than that but will keep you posted!

The latest goss is that Katie Price will be signing copies of her new book ‘My Pony Care Book’ on Saturday November 17 (so that's in a week's time) at Derby House's Wrightington store in Lancashire, from 1pm.

But, she'll also be joined by all the members of the British Eventing Pony Team who won both Team and Individual Gold at this year’s European Championships in Germany. The Pony Team will be at the Wrightington store from 10.30am to sign autographs and answer any questions you might have on breaking into pony eventing.

Click on www.derbyhouse.co.uk and follow the link to the stores page, for more info.

Sleepy!

Hi there,

Laura and Thomas here: newlaura.jpg

I’m sleepy! I’m still recovering from the long, long weekend we spent at Your Horse Live.

'Hi' to everyone who came to say 'hi' to me on the H+P stand! I was certainly kept busy by all of you wanting to buy the goody bags we had for sale. My feet were definitely tired by the end of Sunday!

I did get a chance to sneak out and get an autograph from Geoff Billington and Richard Davison though, so my H+P is now signed by both of them which is ace! We also waved at William Fox-Pitt as he queued up to get into the show.

Anyway best be getting back to work.

Me on the stand!

Hmm, what to write about…

Hi everyone

Jennie here:jennie.jpg

Unfortunately, I don’t have any horsey goss to fill you in on this week. I was poorly last week and therefore didn’t get to go to Your Horse Live. Gutted!

I’m feeling much better this week, although I still have a bit of a sore throat. I hope you’re all staying healthy in this cold weather.

Laura and Sarah have been telling me about their early morning experiences in the cold and dark at the stables. It sounds horrible and I’m very glad I can stay in bed of a morning! Have you had any frozen pipe nightmares yet?

Also, who’s started their Christmas shopping? I plan to get mine underway this weekend in Leeds. I’m going up to visit my friends for the weekend, which should be fun. I have a list as long as my arm. Don’t forget to check out the Christmas gift guides in the December issue of H+P, which is out right now. That should make your shopping trip totally hassle free!

Have fun x

Tippy's new 'do'

Hey everyone

Sarah (and Tippy) here: _MG_0429.JPG

It's my fault the weather has got cold! Tippy was getting so sweaty and sticky everytime she was ridden I got Granville to clip her this last Monday. She'd turned into a little bear and now she's got much less hair - so - it's suddenly got frosty.

But don't panic, I'm not letting her get cold. She's had a blanket clip so it's just the hairy bits which were getting sweaty which are now hair free. Plus, she's wearing a cotton sheet, bib, fleece hood, blanket and rug every night - she's as warm as toast.

I think she quite likes being clipped as she stands so still and loves getting groomed afterwards. Although she's not going to be happy at the moment as it's dark and she's still outside. Oops - I'll be in trouble!

Ellen Whitaker's New Year's resolutions

Ellen W isn't hanging about! We might not have celebrated Christmas yet, but she's already focussing on the New Year.

The top Caldene sponsored rider says she will be aiming to:

Get selected for the Olympic showjumping team
Be named as one of the top three GB jumpers
And make it into the top 15 in the world

No pressure then!

Ellen's aiming high next year!

New arrivals in the office and on the farm!

Hi everyone

Jennie here:jennie.jpg

I can’t believe it’s time to write my next blog again, this week has gone so quick and Christmas is getting closer.

In fact, it seems as though it should actually be next week - as the H+P office is ALREADY decked out in decorations. Sarah had a festive five minutes on Tuesday and literally covered the office in tinsel.

She said it was cos it was the only chance we’d get to decorate as we’re going to be really busy with the new mag before Crimbo. I think she’s secretly getting excited about the big day. I’m just finding it a bit stressful – I have no idea what to buy for anyone and the tinsel is only adding to the stress!

Oh and guess what? Laura’s ‘farm’ is at full capacity again. Apparently she’s got piglets all over the place and a calf too. I can’t wait til I go and stay at her house in a couple of weeks time cos she says I can have a cuddle with one of them!
She’ll make a country bumpkin out of me yet! x

Baby boom!

Hey there

Laura and Thomas here: newlaura.jpg

As Jen has already informed you the stork has officially landed at the yard. In two days we've had two calves and 18 piglets born! Crazy and CUTE!

Seriously, came into the office on Monday morning and by the time I got home there were babies all over the place!

Trying to get some piccys at the moment and when I do I will put them live on here for you. All we need now is some names for them all - any ideas email me (laura@horseandpony.com) - and let me know. There are only so many names a girl can come up with!

Laura

PS Thomas is all okay although getting mega fluffy again so he will have to be re-clipped soon! There will be Thomas hair all over the place.
